Living in Washington, DC, where the museums and national monuments are open to the public free of charge, I always forget when I travel to Europe that I have to pay entrance fees! But if you are taking a European vacation it doesn't mean you'll have to empty your bank account to have a good time. Before you go, check out these fabulous sites that are open to the public -- for free!
Schonbrunn PalaceMany European cities have the bad reputation of being expensive to visit. And when you plan to see as much as you can during your vacation, the entrance fees really add up. Thankfully, there are also lovely places which can be visited for free.
