Hollywood and Highland – A Weekend Out
Jodi Jill, 10/13/09
Hollywood and Highland, located in the heart of Hollywood, is a premier shopping destination in the Los Angeles area. Catering those movie fans who love the silver screen, both in front of and behind the camera you can have a great night out and be treated like a star.
This is the perfect place for a girl's night out or a mini vacation. Suggestions for a perfect weekend:
- Pull out the camera and start taking snapshots of stars highlighting your favorite movie star on the Hollywood Walk of Stars. It's possible to walk both ways for blocks while enjoying the sights.
- Drop by The Wine Bar for a mini sampling session. The only wine bar located in the area, you can taste some of California vintner specialties and purchase a bottle of the best wine to sip later.
- See Jimmy Kimmel Live. This ABC television show is taped nightly on weekdays just across the street. Tickets available most nights before the tape time. A booth, in front of Hollywood and Highland will share the nightly guests of the show and provide tickets.
- Go to the Post Office on the first floor. No, you don't need a letter but you do want to see the inside of this barely known gem. Wall size murals
- Hollywood stars are stunningly beautiful so bring a camera to pose.
- Step on the balcony and gaze at the Hollywood Sign. Day or night it is a perfect view it is a great place to grab a cup of coffee (Starbucks is around the corner) or grab a glass of wine and enjoy.
- Feeling like some sports? Lucky Strike Lanes is on the bottom level where you can bowl in Hollywood like a superstar!
- If you want to meet the stars, but feeling like their handlers would be too much? Check out the impersonator actors who stand in front of the complex on Hollywood Boulevard. Dressed as stars they pose for pictures with you. Spiderman, Captain Jack Sparrow and Marilyn Monroe roam the crowds.
- Check out Manns Chinese Theater. Part real theater, part tourist attraction you could watch a movie at the newly built theaters upstairs or browse through the original theater and digest Hollywood's deep heritage.
Whatever your choice at
Hollywood and Highland in Hollywood, California, you may need a vacation from your vacation as there is so much to do!
